Your weekly guide to what's biting and where.
Week of October 5, 2026
Fall patterns are setting in nicely across Table Rock this week. The shad migration is in full swing, pushing baitfish into the creek arms and drawing bass out of their summer haunts. Early morning topwater action has been outstanding — walking baits and poppers along bluff walls are producing consistent 3 to 4 pound largemouth with a few quality smallmouth mixed in.
As the sun climbs, switch to a jerkbait or underspin worked along the 15 to 25 foot ledges where schools of spotted bass are stacking up on shad. Point-to-point patterns on the main lake have been the most productive mid-day approach. Don't overlook the backs of pockets late afternoon — fish are pushing shallow again as shadows lengthen.
For our fly fishing guests, the brown trout bite below Table Rock Dam has been outstanding this week. Sculpin patterns and small crawdad imitations fished on a sink-tip line are getting the job done. Generation schedules have been favorable with good windows of wadeable water most mornings through early afternoon.
Overall this is one of the best weeks we've seen all season. Water temps are sitting right in that sweet spot where fish are feeding aggressively ahead of the fall cooldown. If you've been waiting for the right time to book a trip, this is it.

Bull Shoals is fishing like a dream right now. Cooler nights have knocked the surface temps down into the upper 60s and the bass are responding. We’re finding fish schooled up on main lake points in 12 to 20 feet, hammering a swimbait or flutter spoon dropped right into the mix. When you find the school, it’s been lights-out action.
The topwater bite has been sneaky good too — a buzzbait along the north-facing banks first thing in the morning has been our go-to. The key is finding pockets with fresh shad activity. Once you hear them popping on the surface, get in there fast because the window is short but the bites are aggressive.
Below the dam, the tailwater trout fishing remains excellent. Rainbow trout are stacked in the riffles and responding well to nymphs and small streamers. We’ve been running tandem rigs — a size 16 zebra midge trailing a hare’s ear — and it’s been hard to keep them off the hook. A few solid browns in the 18 to 20 inch range have come on olive woolly buggers stripped through the deeper runs.
Generation has been moderate this week so plan around the schedule, but there’s been enough down time each day to get good drift boat floats in. Water clarity is excellent — best we’ve seen in weeks. This is prime time on Bull Shoals.
